The short answer: Pomp doesn't think so. On the October 29, 2026 episode he said "Bitcoin is going to be just fine," and argued that "the more successful they are at AI, the higher Bitcoin's price will go," because AI creates abundance and abundance makes scarce assets like Bitcoin more valuable. Not everyone agrees: Bitget's CEO has warned of big swings as AI IPOs arrive.
Drawing on The Pomp Podcast, hosted by Anthony Pompliano (anthonypompliano.com), in which Polina Pompliano, founder of The Profile, interviewed Pomp (episode released October 29, 2026).
Anthropic filed its S-1 on October 26, putting it on track to become the first frontier AI lab to go public. With trillion-dollar AI listings coming, a common worry is that they will pull money away from Bitcoin. Polina Pompliano asked Pomp directly: "Is that going to suck the air out of the room for Bitcoin?" Here is his answer, and what the filing shows.
Will the Anthropic IPO pull money away from Bitcoin?
Pomp says no. "I actually think that the more successful that SpaceX, Anthropic, all these companies, the more successful they are at AI, the higher Bitcoin's price will go." He did acknowledge that capital has rotated toward AI, including bitcoin miners moving into AI data centers, and that he personally now splits new money "like 50-50 between Bitcoin and AI." More on that in Is Bitcoin Less Risky Now?
Polina raised the other side: Bitget CEO Gracy Chen has said Bitcoin could swing 30% in either direction as big AI IPOs hit. Pomp's response: "anytime you have change in a market, there's always volatility," and it "can work in both directions."
Why does Pomp think AI is good for Bitcoin?
Because of abundance. "An abundance of money, dollars, means that the scarcity of Bitcoin is more valuable. AI is an abundance technology," he said. "In a world of abundance, scarcity becomes more valuable." That makes him bullish on Bitcoin, gold, productive land and scarce collectibles. It's a thesis, not a forecast.
What does Anthropic's S-1 show?
Pomp said the most impressive thing about Anthropic is that "it looks like they burned less than $10 billion to generate what looks like it could be somewhere between 75 to $100 billion of annual revenue," while noting people are still "trying to kind of piece it together." Those are his estimates, not figures from the filing. Here is what the S-1 and reporting on it say:
Revenue of $16.29 billion in the first half of 2026, up from $1.16 billion a year earlier, and $4.59 billion for all of 2025, according to Reuters.
An operating loss of $693 million in the first half of 2026, narrowing from $2.14 billion a year earlier, and positive operating cash flow of $3.9 billion, per MicroVentures.
Third-quarter revenue growth was about 47%, CNBC reported.
About $72.4 billion of one-time charges, according to The Guardian.
The filing does not state an annual revenue run rate of $75 billion to $100 billion. For background, see What Is Anthropic? and How Do I Buy Anthropic Stock?
Does Pomp like Anthropic?
He likes the product and has questions about the people. "Man, these guys nailed it. They got a great piece of technology," he said of Claude. His concerns are about governance and what he sees as moralizing, which he laid out in Should Anthropic Give Its Shares Directly to Kids?
