The short answer: Muse is a personal AI agent made by Meta. Instead of only answering questions, it takes actions for you, such as sending an email or booking travel, and it remembers what matters to you over time. Meta introduced Muse on September 8, 2026. It is available in the U.S. in the Muse app on iOS and Android, at muse.ai and inside WhatsApp, and is free for most uses, with paid subscription plans.

Key takeaways
Muse is a personal AI agent made by Meta that takes actions for you, such as sending emails or booking travel, and remembers details over time.
Meta introduced Muse on September 8, 2026.
It is available in the U.S. on iOS, Android, muse.ai and WhatsApp, and is free for most uses, with paid plans.
A note on the name: this page is about Meta's Muse personal AI agent, not other products that share the name.
What is Muse?
In its announcement, Meta calls Muse "a secure, private personal AI agent that proactively helps with people's goals and suggests ideas." Meta's summary: "It doesn't just answer questions, it actually does the work." You talk to it the way you would message a person, in the Muse app or directly in WhatsApp.
Muse is powered by Muse Spark, which Meta calls its "most capable model to date," and it runs on Muse Secure VM, a dedicated virtual computer in the cloud with its own browser that holds both the agent and the user's data.
What does Muse do?
According to Meta:
Handles tasks. It can send emails, book travel, open a browser, fill out forms and negotiate on your behalf.
Works on long-term goals. Share a goal and it builds a plan, coordinates your time and keeps working after you close the app, checking back when something changes or when it needs approval.
Remembers. Muse remembers details you mention once and can act on them later. You can tell it to "forget" specific things.
Buys things. It can check out with Link by Stripe, which generates a one-time card so your real card details stay hidden. Meta says Muse is the first AI agent covered by Link's purchase protections.
Asks first. It checks with you before sensitive actions such as sending an email or making a purchase, and keeps a full audit trail.
Who owns Muse?
Muse is built and owned by Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. Meta's own newsroom announcement says "Meta is introducing Muse" and that "Meta built Muse from the ground up." Meta frames Muse as "a first step" toward what it calls personal superintelligence.
Is Muse private?
Meta says privacy and security were built in from the start. Per its announcement:
Each person's Muse runs on its own isolated computer in the cloud, and a separate "Sentinel" agent must approve anything Muse sends to the internet.
Muse cannot see passwords or payment methods. Credentials go into secure storage it can use without reading.
Users pick which apps Muse connects to and how much access it gets, and can opt out of their interactions being used to train Meta's AI models.
Meta says Muse does not share a person's conversations or the data in their VM with Meta's ad systems.
Meta plans a "Muse Confidential VM," where data is encrypted with a key only the user holds, "later this year."
Why does Muse matter?
Agents go mainstream. Meta built Muse to need "no learning curve," and it reaches people where they already are, including WhatsApp.
Memory as a feature. Long-term memory is one of the main reasons guests on the show say they use it.
What did The Pomp Podcast say about Muse?
Muse came up in four episodes in October 2026. The longest discussion was on the October 10 episode with Jordi Visser, "Bitcoin Is the Toll Collector of the AI Economy", where Pomp and Jordi debated how Muse will make money. Quotes below are from the episodes, with timestamps.
"What are the leading personal agents? Muse and Instinct, not the big labs."
"I don't understand how Muse is going to make money."
"Oh, I think they're going to print cash."
"I worked inside that business, trust me. If you're going to use their products and you're going to give them more data, they're going to get better at ads. And so to me, it's not Muse makes money as much as Facebook makes money. They just happen to own the Muse thing."
One clarification: this is Pomp's view of Meta's business model, based on his time working at Facebook. Meta's announcement says Muse "doesn't share a person's conversations or the data in their VM with Meta's ad systems."
"So it used to be OpenAI and Anthropic. Now it is OpenAI, Anthropic, Grok, Gemini, Muse, etc."
"The reason Muse is so important is because that's mainstream for the consumer."
"Muse is built for memory. It is the best model out there right now for memory."
