What is Abra?
According to Abra's website, Abra is "a digital-asset wealth and treasury manager" that helps institutions, advisors and individuals "hold, grow, and borrow against crypto." It was "Founded in 2014." Abra's March 2026 announcement says it has "hundreds of millions of dollars" in assets under management.
In April 2024, Abra announced that the SEC had approved its subsidiary, Abra Capital Management LP, to operate as a registered investment adviser. That entity runs separately managed accounts for two client businesses: Abra Prime for institutions and Abra Private for private clients, family offices and trusts.
What does Abra do?
Wealth management for crypto. Through its registered investment adviser, Abra manages crypto in separately managed accounts for wealthy individuals, family offices and institutions, per its 2024 announcement.
Custody, trading, yield and loans. Abra's March 2026 announcement lists its products as Vault (custody), Yield, Loans (borrowing against crypto), Prime (an OTC trading desk), Private (advisory for wealthy clients) and Treasury (corporate treasury management). On the podcast, Barhydt said borrowing against crypto has been Abra's fastest-growing business.
Tokenized yield. On The Pomp Podcast, Barhydt described tokens on Abra's AbraFi platform, BTCAF and USDAF, that earn yield on bitcoin and dollars. He said holders can trade them or use them as collateral for loans (see the quotes below).

Is Abra going public?
Abra has announced a plan to. On March 16, 2026, it said it had agreed to combine with New Providence Acquisition Corp. III, a special purpose acquisition company. Under the plan, the combined company would be renamed Abra Financial, Inc. and list on Nasdaq under the ticker "ABRX". The deal values Abra at $750 million before new money, and the SPAC holds up to $300 million in trust, according to the announcement.
As of October 24, 2026, we could not find a report that the merger has closed. SPAC deals need shareholder votes and regulatory sign-off, and they can change or fall through.
Who has invested in Abra?
Abra's March 2026 announcement names Adams Street, Blockchain Capital, Pantera Capital, RRE Ventures and SBI as existing investors. It says all of them will roll their stakes into the combined company.
What did The Pomp Podcast say about Abra?
Barhydt joined Pomp on the October 8, 2026 episode, "Bitcoin Is Headed to $300K and Nobody's Ready". Pomp introduced him as "the founder and CEO of Abra." They talked about bitcoin, tokenization, and how registered investment advisers will have to change. Quotes below are from the episode, with timestamps.
"…in order to facilitate loans against those tokenized shares and yield on tokenized shares. That is the future of portfolio construction."
Barhydt explained how Abra's yield tokens are meant to work:
"Bitcoin in, Bitcoin plus more Bitcoin out"
"but it's basically tokenized yield."
He also mentioned a current yield figure on the show and added that he could not promise it. We have left that number out. Any yield product carries risk, including the risk of loss.
